Will we be Getting a 2017 Book?
« on: June 16, 2017, 08:56:34 PM »
Will the NCAA be producing a new PDF for the 2017 Rules and Editorial Changes?  If so, does anyone know when?  Thanks.

Officials will get a 2017-18 book. Go to cfo.arbitersports.com to register. I believe the cost is $175. CFO sent registration emails out this week or last.

  • Without officials... it is only recess.

From what I have heard, there is no 2017-18 Rule book since this is an off year for rules changes.  An updated 2016-17 PDF version should be on the CFO site soon incorporating the few rules and editorial changes this year.

You're right. I posted my answer from memory. I knew 2017 was in there somewhere, but it's 2016-2017, not 2017-2018.

From the CFO web site:

"REGISTRATION is now available, and officials who register with the "2017 CFO Officials" registration will receive a Welcome Packet that includes a 2016 and 2017 Rules and Interpretations Book, 2017 Instant Replay Case Book, and 2017 CCA Crew of 7 & 8 College Football Officiating Manual.  In addition, ArbiterSports and Referee Enterprises will again provide a digital CCA manual app for all NCAA registered football officials."

The confusion results from the one year 2015 NCAA book. I don't think many people realized that, for whatever reason, the NCAA went to a 1 year book then back to a 2 year starting in 2016 after being in a 2 year process since 2009. Of course, they still change rules every year, so I don't know why, other than printing costs, they don't just print a 1 year book and just release the PDF.

Like the Fed does and charges $5.99 for it on iTunes?
