End of Series, failed to make LTG
« on: August 13, 2015, 11:21:37 PM »
Just a question...
A 4th and whatever, Team A doesn't make the LTG and there is a DBF against B. So the end of the series occurs, then the penalty is walked off, and a new RFP for B.  My question is, when does possession become B's?  at the end of the series? or after the walk off, or at the RFP to start the next series?

B gains possession when A fails to reach the LTG on 4th down (...after penalties for any live ball fouls are enforced, and as long as the down is not being replayed).

A new series (and B's new LTG) is established at the RFP where it becomes 1st and 10. Any dead ball fouls prior to the RFP will move the ball, but the new LTG will be 10 yards from that spot at the RFP.

Any fouls after the RFP will not move the now established LTG and you can get a 1st and 15 situation then.

In your situation, it will be 1st and 10 for B at the RFP.
