Free Kick, Fumble, Personal Foul
« on: October 03, 2017, 12:49:43 PM »
My crew had an interesting play last night in a JV game.

Free Kick

Due to a UNS the Free Kick is from K's 25

A kickoff by K11 is caught by R34 at R's 38. R34 runs 10 yards, is contacted and fumbles the ball at R's 49. During the fumble, K28 grabs and twists R34 facemask at K's 49. The ball is recovered by K11 on R's 45.

Result?

Foul occurs during a loose ball play (fumble), so the basic spot is the previous spot (spot of the fumble, R49) where the penalty is assessed and it then is 1st and 10 for R at the K36.

K does not keep the fumble, as they did not get the ball with clean hands.

You ended up at the correct location, but your directions are flawed.
This is a Running Play and the foul happened while the ball was loose following a fumble by the runner (not to be confused with a Loose Ball Play). The FM is enforced from the end of the related run R49 (that is why we bean bag a fumble). R's ball 1st & 10 at the K36 yard line.
