Have you ever seen/played on a field that only has lines every 10 yards? I've been on plenty that don't have hash marks every yard, but those are officially optional.

I'd imagine you'd only really see missing 5 yard lines at some pee-wee field where you're probably lucky they have any lines at all, and there's no hope of any of them actually being straight.

Unfortunately, early in my career, I called several varsity games on fields like that.

Pereira was unable to attend, someone else filled in (can't recall his name), and he was an excellent motivational speaker.

Only other comments I have, are that I was super disappointed that there was no six-man breakout session at all (along with not a single six-man specific question on the test), and for the massive amount of cash TASO is now getting by making everyone pay for their 'share' of the annual meeting through the price increase, there was zero evidence that any of those funds went into improving the state meeting experience. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was put together very well, and didn't see anything notable to be critical about (minus the now-defunct six-man breakout), but I did expect them to put at least some of their newly found piggy bank funds back into the state meeting. Instead, it looks like those funds will be used for... other things.

AR 3-2-4 V: 1/10 @ A-25. Early in the 4th quarter, back A21 takes a handoff and runs for a 15-yard gain and is down inbounds. During the play, A88 is guilty of holding at the A-30, and (a) B54’s helmet comes off during the play (not a direct result of a foul) or (b) B54 is injured on the play. RULING: The holding foul by A88 will be penalized 10-yards from the spot of the foul and it will be 1/15 @ A-20. In both (a) and (b), the play clock will be set to 40, and both the play clock and game clock will be started on the Referee’s signal.

Yeah, well, hotels everywhere are expensive, so it doesn't matter where the state meeting is held.
It's tax deductible as a business expense anyway.
About 1300 showed up.
The San Marcos Embassy Suites venue was all suites and was in A+ shape with breakfast and lunch included, meeting rooms part of the hotel onsite restaurant, spacious -no cramped or undersized meeting areas. Extra large video screens so everyone could see and hear
Brad Allen's address was great and so were the breakouts.
If I do say so myself, the golf tournament was great, but I was running it with two other guys, but was the one of the best courses for quality we've had in 20 years.
But the best part of this or any State Meeting is meeting new people, reconnecting with others, and building those friendships.
I got to meet ElvisLives for the first time and we played golf together.
Spent what should have been late night sleeping hours as talking and laughing hours with members from other chapters like RGV, DAL and HOU.
Can't really put a meaningful price tag on that IMHO.

How was Mike Pereira's talk this year? He was really good last year!!

Yes, intentional. Unfortunate, if others read something else into it. Nothing formal, I don't believe. So, if someone knows of a formally adopted acronym by either NFHS or NCAA, please share it, and the source.

NCAA Discussion / Clock and Play clock question

Under 2 minutes in the game, the score is tied.  Team A commits intentional grounding and a Team B player helmet comes off (not from a foul).  While I understand the that team B will have the choice of a potential 10 second runoff or have it on he snap, because of 3-3-10-b (helmet it not the only reason we are stopping the clock).  Does the play clock get set to 25 or 40?

In other words does a completion of a foul supersede a helmet off of Team B?

I used to think that was just a hockey thing. But, now I have seen two whole "international football" (soccer) games on TV, and hockey can't touch them soccer dudes!
And, now, the rest of America has seen some soccer matches. Can't wait until some college (real) football player gets shoved in the back and he falls down grabbing his lower leg...

Yeah, Zooms have their place, but you can't put a price on human interaction. It was great.
