The UIL is scheduled to release its 2012-13 realignment of schools on Thursday, February 2nd @ 9:00AM. Do any of you anticipate any big surprises?

The Padilla Poll UIL Realignment Projections are already up and posted and may be found at:

Kinda thinking HISD might all jump in 3A w/ exception of a couple.
I am blown away by the "massive corporate underwriters" for the mixer.
Noticed it last year and see they are on the "underwriter list" this year..... sNiCkErS

Rumor is that HISD will have it's very own 3A district.

Regarding the "mixer," there apparently were "corporate underwriters" listed for last years festivities as well, but their monetary contributions still didn't defray the fact that those attending ended up having to buy their own liquid refreshments, with the lone exception of tap water. I really hope that it is better managed this year!   z^

Houston Chapter will go from 2 3A districts to as many as 5 3A districts.  HISD will have a 3,4,5 A district.  Baycity, La Marque, and ElCampo will drop to 3A.  Look for Cuero to be zoned back to the east and bring that whole district back to Houston.

UIL Reclassification and Realignment Information - Press Release Reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUSTIN, TX ? The biennial UIL reclassification and realignment for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years will be released Thursday, Feb. 2 at 9:00 a.m. CST. The new alignments, established by enrollment figures submitted to the UIL by its member schools in October, will serve as football and basketball districts for the next two school years.

In an effort to increase transparency, the UIL has posted the 2012 reclassification and realignment procedure memo for schools and the 2012-14 selections for reclassification and realignment on the UIL website at www.uiltexas.org/alignments.

The University Interscholastic League will host a question and answer session for interested media outlets regarding the release of the reclassification and realignment Thursday, Feb. 2 at 9:15 a.m. at the UIL building in Austin. All media present will be given complete reclassification and realignment packets, and maps of conference and district alignments will be on display during the question and answer session. Media outlets interested in scheduling an interview with UIL Director of Athletics Dr. Mark Cousins or UIL Deputy Director Dr. Jamey Harrison for Thursday should contact the UIL Media Office to set up a time.

Reclassification and realignment districts and information will be released through an electronic press release at 9 a.m. Thursday to media on the UIL press release recipient list. The information will also beavailable online via the UIL website at www.uiltexas.org, and at the 20 Regional Education Service Centers across the state. Additionally, complete reclassification and realignment packets will be available at the UIL office in Austin.

For the first time ever, interactive electronic maps containing conference and district alignments will be available on the UIL website. The interactive maps, which provide a visual representation of how districts are aligned geographically across the state, will be posted on Thursday, Feb. 2.

The reclassification and realignment will also be revealed on Fox Sports Southwest at 9 a.m. Thursday on a special episode of the High School Spotlight hosted by Craig Way. The show will be dedicated solely to reclassification and realignment issues, both debuting the new district alignments and discussing the realignment process with UIL Executive Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt, UIL Director of Athletics Dr. Mark Cousins and UIL Deputy Director Dr. Jamey Harrison.

With regards to the above referenced UIL alignment press release, I couldn't help but laugh at the notion "UIL transparancy" to be a classic oxymoron.

Exactly who is "Houston Sunnyside" in UIL Class 3A? Is there a new Houston ISD school on the horizon? And what part of town is it located in?  z^

Sunnyside is south of 610 down Cullen.
Worthing is the big high school and Jones is in the "hood"
There is magnet type charter school I believe Vanderbilt - I presume it is tryin' to be "like a Kipp Academy'.
Nonetheless please check your weapons upon entering... P_S
Well maybe I may be wrong - that may be applicable to Spring Dekaney...ah...takin' it to the 'burbs... >:D

Now you might actually need one of those tasers as standard equipment provided that you get either a Beaumont Ozen or a LaMarque game on your schedule!   z^

Kinda brings back a memory of about 7 years or so ago.
I was workin' game between Washington and Yates @ Delmar.
Heard the PA announcer  (who was a MAJIC 102 FM announcer) make this announcement:
"There is a car in the parking lot with it's lights on.
If you have a Diehard don't worry about it.
If you bought that battery on the street corner you had better go tend to it..."
 LOL

"Houston" Sunnyside is actually KIPP Sunnyside.  I've done both JV and 8th grade games there (high school and middle school are next to each other) and had no problems.  The school is a bit more strict than other schools, and the parents are more involved.

It is right down the street from Carnegie Vanguard.

Yea - that makes sense.
KIPP was in TAPPS football for the past years.

Im excited for my alma mater. Looks like they'll be playing about 80% of their games in Amarillo instead of having to go all the way to freaking Mid/Ode all the time. Amarillo HS, Palo Duro, Caprock, Randall, Canyon High, Dumas, Lubbock High, San Angelo...Awesome. They'll dominate at 4A

That is funny.

There's nothing quite like working an HISD game with more people on the field than in the stands is there?
