NCAA To Adopt NFHS BBW?
« on: February 02, 2016, 11:01:49 AM »
At the recent D-I coordinators meeting, several rules change suggestions were made to be presented to the NCAA Editorial Committee, including:

"Blocking Below the Waist. Coordinators recommend that it be disallowed except
in close line play immediately after the snap."

Perhaps the NCAA mindset is swinging back to the side of safety.

Don't expect it.  Redding and the coordinators have been in favor of this for years.  But there are too many coaches that say no, especially those that make their living on the run option.

I wish they would, but they won't.

I would love to see NCAA have the same BBW as HS

I would prefer they only allow low blocks in the tackle box by stationary players until the tackle box no longer exists. This would allow the stationary backs to low block in pass protection.

Let's walk before we run (Federation).  Outlaw any blocking below the waist unless QB is in position to take a direct, hand-to-hand snap.
