So Ed Hochuli is a good enough leader that 5 of his crew have assignments this week but he does not!??!  The stupidity of this is merely my opinion.

Maybe Ed will get the superbowl  yEs:

My understanding is that in the playoffs the officials are judged on their individual merits, so Ed would have to stand on his own merits as a WH.

That is kind of my point, how can a guy be a good enough leader/mentor to get 5 of his 6 guys to officiate at a quality level worthy of playoff assignment and not be worthy himself.  I do realize that he may get a game later in the playoffs.  In my humble opinion though, if you are good enough to work the later rounds you should most certainly be working the earlier rounds,  if the goal is truly to have the best possible officials on the field for every playoff game.

If I understand the current system correctly, he won't get the Super Bowl, but I would be very surprised if he doesn't get a conference championship game (as that would mean that he is in the "not qualified to work playoffs" group).

Perhaps they were the ones elevating his level.

A follow up question in relation to the tier system I haven't yet seen mentioned...

Where do the Pro Bowl crew sit normally?  I've seen mention of some who get the crew because they are retiring, are all the others Tier 1 that aren't doing the Super Bowl or championship games??

My guess is a combination of both.
