Mechanics interpreter

Just wondering how many associations have a mechanics interpreter.  Our new Football Boss here in Ohio has mandated that each association have a mechanics person in addition to the rules interpreter.  The State Office feels that a lot of officials here in Ohio have not been following the NFHS guide plus he has come up with a few on his own.  The program he instituted last year has produced some results, so the majority of us feel this will be a good addition to the association program also.  Wondering how many other states/association have gone the same route.   One adjustment he made last year was moving both the linesman AND linejudge to the 10 yd line on kickoffs.  This is something Matt Sumstein has spoken about in past videos.  Any comments?

In MO there are state appointed Rules and Mechanics interpreters.  I think there are around 5 or 6 rules interpreters and 5 or 6 mechanics intrepreters from across the state, usually in certain geographic areas.  The main job duty of these folks is to hold preseason rules meetings (all officials must attend) and mechanics clinics (1-3 year officials must attend).  In addtion to that, usually just be a point of contact person for any officials/coaches in the area that have a question regarding rules or mechanics.  Replacements are usually made based on recommendations from the outgoing intrepreter.

Nothing is mandated by the state but two supervisors that critique both rules and mechanics and hold rules meetings prior to and during the season.  In my local association have position chiefs that are the mechanics specialists at that position that an official would go to with questions or suggestions.
