I'm 99% sure I'm right on this, but had an Old Timer
TM start to wear me down last night and make me think I was taking crazy pills.
A only has six players on the line of scrimmage at the snap.
During the play, A34 takes the handoff, fumbles, B56 recovers the fumble and returns the ball for a touchdown.
Old Timer was saying that the illegal procedure penalty could be enforced on the try or kickoff since it was a scoring play. I tried (unsuccessfully) to convince him that in order for B to keep the ball, they have to decline all fouls by A prior to the change of possession (since it was a foul at the snap).
I'm not crazy, right? Fortunately, this was being discussed over post game beverages and not an actual play during the game.
