Momentum Exception Rule
« on: September 27, 2016, 11:03:00 AM »
Gents,

Thanks in advance for your responses as this forum has been very helpful to me.  I truly appreciate the time everyone puts into their answers to make sure I understand the rule.

I feel I have a good understanding on "momentum exception" but want to confirm the following is true:

Defender b2 intercepts the ball at the 3 yard line with his momentum carrying him into the endzone.  While in b2 is running in the endzone b34 blocks in the back A80.

Ruling - Safety.

Thanks in advance

Where did the block in the back occur? If the block in the back occurred in the end zone then yes - Safety. (Foul behind the basic spot i.e. the 3 yard line). If the block in the back occurred in the field of play then you could enforce the foul from that spot or the 3 yard line (using all but one).
