Touchdown, First Down, or Incomplete
« on: December 15, 2017, 02:39:20 PM »
I have been away from this board for a while- work and family and teaching school limited my time- but I had to come back to get the thoughts on a play that happened here in Georgia in last week's State Championship game.

I didn't see it posted previously, so if I am duplicating others efforts I apologize.

The play in question has caused quite a stir around these parts.

3 minutes left in 4th Qtr Offense is down 10-6. 4th down and 6.

If you have seen or heard about this play you probably know there are a  number of issues with it,(did the receiver step out of bounds prior to catching the pass or was he forced out, for example) but I am concerned only with the last call- an incomplete pass.

I would be interested to see your comments.

SEE everything that you CALL, but; Don't CALL everything you SEE!
Never let the Rules Book get in the way of a great ball game!

He is not going to the ground and is tripped after catch. Score? Maybe but cant tell for sure when the leg is down in relation to the ball and the GL. Had he been going to the ground, in NCAA, the reach would have allowed the catch. He either scores or is down short. I expect in NCAA they would put the ball around the 6 in line.

Got to be a TD. whatever it is, it’s not (or shouldn’t be) incomplete. 😮
