A new way to end a ball game!!!
« on: July 16, 2015, 07:48:01 AM »
The Eastern League (AA) All-Star Game was held yesterday in Portland, Maine.
The game was tied after 9 innings.
In lieu of extra innings, they held a "home run shootout"
      The game ended shortly.
Doubt it'll ever make it to the regular season.
Doubt it'll ever make it to the Bigs.
Felt it was a novel concept.

Each team provided 3 sluggers; each slugger took one swing; as soon as one homered, his team won; it took 9 "rounds"; it didn't say who was pitching.

I like it. How about we do this for football ties only kick field goals. Start at the 20. If both teams hit a that distance we move back 5 and do it again. First one to miss loses.

Good idea, Mike, only suggestion would be to change "First to miss loses" to "First to make wins" :), as it has a more positive connotation.  :thumbup We could require that the attempt be via a drop kick, which would get the soccer goalies involved. Note : Opponents sending their prom queen behind the goal post to fake a wardrobe malfunction would be considered an unfair act and enforced under 9-10-1.
