Title: History Question
Post by: ncwingman on June 22, 2018, 04:50:54 PM
A bit of a history question for you old fogies on the board.

I was looking for video of Morris Stroud goaltending (well, attemping) and came across this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6EF9bBmOKU

There is video of Stroud attempting (and failing) to goaltend at the end, but that's not the point of my question. Len Dawson tells the story of The Late Hit in a game in 1970 where he picks up a first down on a running play that ices the game -- until he's hit late (well after he's down) and his team retaliates.  ^flag ^flag ^flag -- offsetting dead ball personal fouls, so that's no big deal right... but wait, we replay 3rd down?

Clearly he's not upset about an incorrect enforcement, so I guess that was correct back in 1970? When did that change?

Probably right after the that game.
