Title: State Championship Jersey Allowed?
Post by: TXPanhandle on December 21, 2017, 03:10:11 PM
All the preseason fuss about jerseys and the one worn by Rockdale is allowed in the  Championship 3A D1 game?  So much for enforcing the rule.

No, Houston crew should enforce what we were told to enforce. Means we can say to HECK with anymore rule changes that we disagree with.

I would guess that no chapter called this very often during the year.  Full disclosure, I had a similar incident during the year and put it in my incident report only.  No timeouts charged.  Not saying that is right but I sure didnt get the feeling that very many crews (if any) were charging timeouts.  No reason to start in the State Championship game I would think (IMO).

I appreciate your honesty but now that brings us back to doing our jobs in the beginning so it’s not an issue in December.

Who gives a $*#& about a Jersey that is easily readable. Write it up, send to the UIL and let them deal with it. Get over it

Apparently, the NCAA does because they made a rule SPECIFICALLY concerning this and there is going to be another one in the book about this NEXT year.

They might have made a rule but the philosophy is “we’re not uniform police” write it up send it to your supervisor who will then send to the commissioner. Move on, get over it.

Yep.  That is an illegal jersey.

Tommy Moore told you not to enforce the rules? I have a hard time believing that

It is very possible that the UIL told the crews not to worry about the jerseys this weekend. It would not be the 1st time that they have made exceptions.

T did not tell me this...per my statement that you quoted, “supervisor” and “commissioner” Tommy is neither. Annnddddd philosophies sometimes basically tell you not to enforce the “rules”

Let it go.  UIL is in the building.  If they want to deal with it, they can.

It sounds like this is no longer a point of emphasis and we will not have to worry about this going forward. Just my opinion anyway - who knows.
