To my Texas friends....
« on: October 13, 2021, 05:06:35 PM »
It appears that OUR NEW ENGLAND Red Sox will be playing some team from Texas for the AL Pennant.

I offer the friendly wager :

If the Astros win the series, I'll end my next 5 posts with : "ASTROS RULE  aWaRd , those boston red sox suck  :puke: "

If the Red Sox should win, you would close yours with the teams reversed.

ANY TAKERS  :)…….

FYI, records were set in both the Sox-Astros game and the Cowboy-Patriot game.

You probably heard the two grand slams by the same team in a post-season game was a record.
 tiphat: tiphat:

BUT, you may not have heard the Patriot QB set a record by throwing two consecutive TD  ^good ^good passes on two consecutive countable plays  :o :o. Of course, the TD passes were to different teams ???.

I can only hope the Astros visit to Fenway will provide the same excitement as the Cowboy visit to New England....ONLY WITH A DIFFERENT OUTCOME  aWaRd !

A word of warning, the beauty of Yogi's sage advice offers BOTH; a glimpse of "hope" for those who might lose faith, too early, as well as "caution" for those who tend to assume victory prematurely.

I'm sure the Astros have came from 2-1 down to win a series before, and I'm far from counting them out. As I recall the Red Sox were once down 3-0 and ,yet, came back to win the series... :) ;) :D ;D :o 8] ::) :bOW :!# cRaZy

It's now best of three, with a visit back to the Lone Star State. It's too bad  :'( that MLB games weren't like NFHS and only went seven innings  :) !

I’m not a die-hard fan of any baseball team. However, IMHO, Jose Altuve is the best player in baseball, and may be one of the best - if not THE best - of all time. We are so very lucky to be able to watch him play during our lifetimes.
Just enjoy the game of baseball.

May be a record for runs scored in a series by both teams

Excepting game 0ne, 4 blowouts - 2 by each - resemble softball scores. I'm sure some records will be set.

Useless Baseball Knowledge : The MVP Award started back in the 1930's. Only one team has had a MVP player in each decade since its inception. Who can name the team?

Bonus question : Can you name those MVP players?

I assumed the team based on the person that posted the question.   I looked it up and even with 10 fewer than the all time leading team they have covered every decade.  The leading team missed the 1990's. The answer to your question is tied for 5th most total.

Good question.

You nailed it, Covid  aWaRd ! I'm not a Yankee fan, but the Yank's Don Mattenley did probably did deserve MVP over the Sox's Mo Vauhan in the 90's.

Sox MVPs :
1930's Jim Foxx
1940's Ted Williams
1950's Jackie Jensen
1960's Carl Yastremski
1970's Fred Lynn & Jim Rice
1980's Roger Clements
1990's Mo Vauhan
2000's Dustin Pedoria
2010's Mooky Betts

My apologizes for misspelled names, but I couldn't find my baseball cards  :)
