I'd like to get opinions on this play.

A lot happening at the end of the kick.
-Iffy FC signal
-Advance after FC signal
-Hit after advance

Good job by BJ shutting this down.  The only foul I would have is DOG on the returner for advancing after a fair catch.  With the returner running in the manner that he did, it's not unreasonable to expect the defense to keep playing.  I don't think it's late enough for a flag.

Fully agree with Bossman. If the receiver starts to run he has given up his protection. DOG from where kick ended and the fair catch was made.

The receiver has not made a catch. Therefore, he has not made a fair catch and does not have the protection due a fair catch.

I agree with y'all that the coverage team has not fouled here. I would also flag the returner for DOG here; he gave the signal, he should know better. If a teammate had recovered the kick, I'd be more inclined to hold my flag.

Thanks gents. tiphat:

I'm the BJ, thought about the DOG, saw the hit, and thought, "He learned his lesson.  I'll give him a talking to before the next punt return."

Funny enough, on the next return the kid told me he just had a brainfart and wouldn't do it again.
