Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I'm looking for a surefire way to keep the white stripe on my new pants white...

Did I read somewhere, maybe here,  one time toothpaste?

Maybe I asked the question wrongly. I'm looking for a way to keep the black dye in my pants from bleeding onto the white stripe.

Take a dump BEFORE the game. :) (Oxyclean works, too). Spray N Wash would be a good bet on tougher stains. I get my white hat clean with that stuff, let it sit, then run it in the shower for 20-minutes in a cap-caddy.

The first pair of pants I bought from Honig's when we made the switch about 10 years ago now looked to be more like a flaw in the white material of the stripe than fading.

Always wash in cold water, use better quality detergents.  Dyes in synthetics usually don't run.  Sweat (salt) however might be causing the black fading onto the white.  Do you wear tights or just compression shorts?  Tights or longer socks might give you enough of a barrier from skin to pant leg.
