As usual, this is the time when we start invading each other's "territory" and passing each other on the highways.  Drive safe fellas!

TXMike:

Need to enter a correction: (1)Regarding UIL Class A, D-1; the Thrall v. Garrison game came to the Houston Chapter for a "pick," giving Houston 20 games for this week.   z^

I had to make a couple of assumptions this week, so if you see something that is incorrect, please let me know.

If two schools who use the same chapter for most of their home games, goes outside that local chapter for a 3rd round playoff game, how does that set with your members/board?

Not well at all, and you don't have to wait any past the first round to see a few examples of that.  To me, that's grounds to drop that school's entire schedule for next season.  If a chapter supports your program from 7th through varsity, you better reciprocate by utilizing that chapter when possible in the playoffs.

Go back to Page 1 of this thread starting with posts on Nov 12.  This issue was hashed out somewhat there.

There may be "logocal" reasons (if any reason a coach uses to pick chapters/officials is "logical".) Example:  School inside the confines of San Antonio proper is playing a school that is 150 miles from San Antonio but which is serviced by the San Antonio Chapter.  The "outlier" may think he is not going to get a fair shake as the school he is playing is in the main city of the Chapter.   Would definitely be something to discuss with the coach(es) involved prior to the next season to see what it was that caused him to make that decision.  I have never been a supporter of "boycotts" so would not withhold the Chapter's services in the future, even if they did something like this.

Dallas is not getting any love, especially at 5A level.   This is typically a rough week for Dallas as there are rarely Dallas/Dallas games, but only 1 2A game outside of the area?   Ouch!  Wish I knew what's up.

Maybe schools want to use you in later rounds so are reluctant to use you now?

I dont know if boycott is the right strategy, but I do believe that a chapter leader should have a conversation with them about it.  Maybe that already happens?  Who Knows?  But it's sort of a slap in the face to the members who have worked those schools all season to get snubbed at playoff time.  Maybe that is an evaluation of sorts, maybe they just couldn't agree on a crew, or maybe coaches are just the most paranoid people on the face of the planet.  But it aint right!

I know the feeling.  We have 2 teams who we cover in the same district that are meeting in our backyard.  They elected to use an outside chapter because they wanted to use a crew they didn't know.  The 2 teams are only 11 miles apart.  Perhaps it could be part of that "fair shake" that TXMike posted.

I know this works both ways...our chapter is certainly gets the benefit of this situation more than we get shafted by our own schools.  Just wondering how other chapters dealt with it.

Doesn't seem to happen much with respect to Houston.

Late breaking news.   Dallas picked up Normangee vs. Big Sandy at Corsicana on Saturday.   We're up to 2 games outside of Dallas!

Houston did manage to "lose" a game this weekend from two of its subscribing schools:  Class 4A, D2 game between Dayton vs. LaMarque being played at Tully Stadium in Houston on Saturday @ 2PM. I understand that that game went to the San Antonio Chapter on a UIL assignment.   z^

Happy to be working this weekend after missing Playoff Week 1 due to being hospitalized for 7 days with diverticulitis.  I thought my season was over!

That would be good.   Dallas does always seem to get games at a better rate in the last couple of rounds.   Hopefully, that is true this year.   I think I'm in the next couple of crews that would be assigned by chapter.   Just need to get the games to the chapter.

Hopefully those schools will have an opportunity to have "qualified officials" cover their entire schedule next year.

I can't get the updated bracket to come up. I get the one from last week. Is there another way to download it?

Try refreshing your browser.  I just clicked on the link and it is the latest one. In fact, when I put it on the website, I deleted the previous version first just to make sure we did not have a repeat of what happened before.
