Are these legal?

I don't know that I'd call those numbers on black's jersey "clearly visible"...

According to the rule book I believe it's legal. To the human eye, oh no. I can just see it now "HEY REF WHAT NUMBER WAS THAT PENALTY ON?!?"

sure seems not all that clear; but with night lighting, camera lenses, etc., it may look better in person.

If they are deemed legal they are really stretching the rule.

I would let them play and  report it to the state and let them rule on it.

Oh, no doubt - we're still going to play the game.  And if the coach gets cranky about us not getting numbers on the penalties, well, we're trying, coach...

I'm color deficient. I can see colors but dark shades all look the same to me. I can't tell navy blue from purple from black for example. I can't see a number on the leftmost player at all.

My color vision is good and I also cannot see the number on the leftmost player.

This is what happens when Nike took over the uniforms.

I'm sure it had to do with this: $$$
