HIGH SCHOOL CAREER HIGHLIGHT

(1/1)

oldtimerref:
During my 38 years as a football official, the 1984 season really stands out. My crew worked games with two future Heisman Trophy winners. Andre Ware of Dickinson High and Ty Detmer of San Antonio Southwest and ironically both teams lost. The crew included Beau Miller- umpire, Ken Patterson-FJ,   Roy Kimmel- HL, Steve Tatom-BJ and Bill Hendley - Ref.   Kimmel and Patterson have passed away and the  rest of us are long since retired.

ElvisLives:
Good career.
Ken came to Lubbock after that and became our Secretary. Good man.

Personally, next season will be 50 for me.

1991 was my first year and 2025 will be my 34th. I knew Roy and his brother Keith, who passed a few years ago, as well as Beau. In fact I spoke to Beau on the phone last year. All three went on to be successful Crew Chiefs/Referees and had great careers. Great men, each of them. Keith's son, Jeff, is a chip off the ol' block and is now working college football.

oldtimerref:
THIS WAS A GREAT CREW WHO WIRKED 22 REGULAR SEASON GAMES AND 8 PLATOFF GAMES THAT SEASON.

oldtimerref:
I forgot to add that  Keith  worked the  down box for us in as many games as possible since he worked in Houston and we worked in Gulf Coast. Two years later , I moved to Ohio and was lucky to break into a college conference while  Roy took over the crew and had a great career as the white hat.
