Has anyone else heard anything about an NFHS interpretation that intentional or unintentional touching of a player whose helmet has come off will cause the ball to become dead? I've heard this and seen it in an email but nothing official from NFHS yet.

I'd prefer they just give us each an evaporator gun. nAnA

That would certainly make ejections a lot more interesting!

Only if the helmetless player gained possession of the ball would it become dead (because now he's a runner). The jury is still out as to if a foul occurs if helmetless player reaches down to recover a fumble or to catch a pass thrown directly at him. Hopefully these issues and others will be answered at the NFHS Interpretation Meeting to be held next Tuesday.

Thanks, Ralph...that's what I thought too but was hearing different through a couple different people. I'm sure you'll keep us updated on any developments!
