Team B was flagged for a personal foul on the tackle of A's 5 yard TD run. A then kicked the PAT and B got the ball at the 40 to start their possession.
Is that the correct enforcement?
-
Unless Texas has an exception for the penalty enforcement in the extra periods, this was incorrect. The penalty can only be enforced on the try. Rule 10-2-5-a-1.
-
There are no exceptions. That enforcement is not correct.

Happened to Dallas Skyline. Same school that filed a complaint regarding perceived officiating mistakes in a playoff loss to Southlake Carroll back in 2011.

Since it was on the tackle in the endzone, might it have been called a DB PF?

That still wouldn't have changed the enforcement. Since there is no kickoff the enforcement is on the Try.

Yep

No offense to my brethren JasonTX but there are 3 exceptions for fouls committed in Extra Periods:
Of course the come under the heading of Fouls after a change of team possession
1. Penalties against either team are declined by rule in extra periods (Exceptions: Penalties for flagrant personal fouls, UNS conduct fouls, dead-ball personal fouls and live-ball fouls treated as dead-ball fouls are enforced on the succeeding play).
2. A score by a team committing a foul during the down is canceled.
3. If both teams foul during the down and Team B had not fouled before the change of possession, the fouls cancel and the down is not repeated.
I wasn't at the game nor have I talked to the crew, don't know who the crew is for that matter, however this is what they may have been thinking about in enforcing the penalty and messed it up because there was no change of possession. Whatever happened, it needs to be looked into.

Even if you were thinking that way BJ, the rule says to enforce on the succeeding play. The succeeding play after a TD in Extra Periods is the PAT
-
That would be correct my good man....I am having a brain incapable moment while in San Antonio at the Marriott Riverwalk...the beverages are just way to cold here and it freezes my brain..... hEaDbAnG
My humble apologies.....it still sounds like they might have messed up though...

You are here and you don't call a brutha ? ! ! !>

I liked an explanation I heard once to clear this one up...you can only enforce a penalty when you KNOW you will have a play to enforce it on. In the case of DB PF after a score, you can either enforce on the try or the succeeding kickoff. In the case of OT, you dont know if the team will go for two and win the game, so there is no guarantee of a next play other than the try. Therefore, you have to enforce from the try.

That logic doesn't work if it is after a score on the first series of an OT period, which was the case with this one. In that instance you know Team B will have a possession after the try regardless of what happens on the try.

Some where, I'm still digging, we had a instance where the ball would have been placed at the 40. I'm thinking a test but won't swear to it. Am thinking it was a dead ball uns after a extra point but not real sure. Can some one help me out with my old-timers?
Maybe I was not the only one to imagine it.

Plenty of situations where that could happen. Take a look at 3-1-3-g-1 ( Fouls after a COP) Also 8-3-3 (PATs)
