Everyone know the enormous contribution Bill LeMonnier has made to football officiating around the world and in 3 days (Jan 3rd) at the 2014 Cotton Bowl he retires and will put on the stripes for the last time - in a NCAA game.
Bill thank you for your dedication to improving officiating world wide and know that every official holds you in the highest regard.

The last one is always the special one. I hope he has a ball!

sorry the pic is so big - didn't know it was so big.

I have had the pleasure of talking to him once. He is a great down to earth guy. I as a football official have enjoyed him on the field. He is what we all should aspire to be on the field. Have a great game Bill. :bOW

Hope you have a great time & a fun game, Bill.. Thanks for all you do! pHiNzuP

I hope Bill continues to provide his training videos during retirement.

Cotton Bowl was fantastic. Our host Mike Miles did an outstanding job taking care of us in Dallas. Appreciate the comments and support from my RefStripes friends. It's been an unbelievable journey and the best part is all the great people/officials I've had the opportunity to meet. I plan on staying around the game in some way or form so don't write the "obit" yet. :)

Bill I was just introduced to your training videos and they are great. I can see where you will be missed on the field but also can see where you have a lot more to give. After watching your video then seeing you work. You do on the field what you say in the video.
Thank you for your service, looking forward to seeing more training from you.

I was totally surprised to see Bill (and a Big 10 crew) on anything other than the BCS championship game.
First it was Lemmonier's final game in an outstanding career tiphat:; and secondly, no Big 10 team is involved. Seemed like a "no-brainer".
-
There will be a Big Ten crew working tonight's game.

From http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2014/01/florida_state_has_fared_the_be.html
ZEBRA COUNT: The BCS Championship Game between Auburn and Florida State will be officiated by a Big 10 crew, headed by referee John O'Neill.
The rest of the crew is comprised of umpire Rick Nelson, head linesman Brent Durbin, field judge Terry Anderson, side judge Steve Hassel, line judge Ron Tipton and back judge Robert Smith, Jr.
The replay will have Tom Herbert as replay official, Dennis Pipski as replay communicator, former SEC director of officials Rogers Redding as observer/booth official and Jerry McGinn as alternate.
