Heard the UIL office sent a notice out this moring that Tony Timmons has called it quits. Can anyone else confirm?
-
Had not heard but does not surprise me. Likely was asked to resign.

Best news I've heard in years. I hope its true. He had no business in that position at all. He was unprofessional, combative and a very poor representative of the UIL and our state's athletic programs. Now, hopefully, they find someone to fill this position that can do it right and be a real leader. My guess is, they don't fill the position since UIL is not going to run officiating chapters.

Except when you look at the website under officials they have 30-40 chapters reporting to UIL. Thump thump mostly

I think the new legislation bans the UIL from organizing an officiating organization. I think the data on the UIL site is old.

The basketball chapters that aren't with TASO are part of a new group THSBOA. They are independent from UIL supposedly. They have their own president and a rep from each chapter forming the board. The funny thing is I once received an informational email from the president and when I checked the headers it was actually sent from Timmons email address but the signature was the president of the group.

Well, if :bOW tiphat: Manor Road cRaZy was in the Land of Oz, the oppressed TASO folks would be singing for joy, "Ding Dong, the witch is dead!" The Manor Road Director of Officials was not the Wicked Witch! He was summarily employed by Manor Road because one high ranking member there greatly envisioned taking over Texas High School Officiating.
The lawsuit settlement all but makes moot the position of "UIL Director of Officials." Lest we should remember that that job is now obsolete, and the tiphat: Good UIL Dr. can now reap savings of some 80K a year.
So just who is the "head cheese" of the former UIL Basketball Consortium? z^
