I heard at our meeting last night that umpires have been authorized to wear a black hockey helmet. This is the first I had heard this, I don't think I was sleeping during any of the other presentations. ;)
Anyways, is anybody thinking about or know of somebody thinking about using one?

Which clinic did you attend this year?
And wherever you were..you do not recall seeing this slide? (attached)

That's the slide I saw last night. I went to the State Meeting, I'm sure it was discussed I just missed it.

No Actually you have pointed out something we need to address. At the state meeting we did not have the standard presentations used at the regional clinics. If we are going to give guys credit for the state meeting like they get for a regional clinic (and I think we should) then we need to make sure they get the same material.

Bill had a slide of it at the midland clinic, solid black, no face guard, it's the hockey mask not the goalies best I could see.

OK so I wasn't crazy about not having heard that. Thanks Mike.
I am contemplating trying the helmet out. Everyone feel free to banish me to no Snickerdom but after having had three concussions, a little extra protection might not be such a bad idea.
Don't worry, I won't put a GoPro on it. ;D

Be like NASCAR and sell sponsorships.

I may pick you up for more games if you put a go pro on. We can upload that badboy to HUDL and send to Oline coach.

Always thought that umpires " should wear a helmet"
-
Not that I would wear one but why didn't they just say any official could wear one if they had the need to. Why be discriminate and just say umpires? ;D
-
Umpires have more than likely already suffered brain damage otherwise we wouldn't be working in the middle. They're just trying to keep us from completely losing our minds and have to be prematurely promoted to referee.

LOL I know they are more susceptible but you and I both know that it will come up maybe not this year but in recent years that someone will have a brain injury on field or accident or whatever that will require the need of a helmet to protect from further damage so why not cover all the basis now then wait and have to make that judgment when it comes up?

That helmet needs white piping.
-
How wide should piping be?

That helmet will be awful hot on the head early in the season.

That's my primary concern.

So are the helmets worn by the players.

So are the helmets worn by the players.
But half of the time they are on the sideline with them off
And they are younger!

And they are younger!
And most of those helmets are not mostly black!

I guess you could add one of these

Just make it match the black caps.

Maybe those who are concerned about a sweaty head should stick to working volleyball. nAnA

Do they come with a feed back attachment?
