Title: What is the "C" for

Gents,

It has been quite some time since I have logged on to this board. I've been out of the game for a while- work kids and grad school will do that I guess.

Anyway, on the college games I have been watching lately I see an official with a the letter "C" on the placard.

What is that for? When did that change?

Center judge. That's what they're calling the eight official. They didn't have a real good name for him so this year they determined he will be called the center judge.

Thanks TXMike. While I haven't been paying  REAL close attention, I thought I would have heard they added the 8th, but I had no idea until I started seeing the C on TV.
