Title: Clock starting and stopping
Post by: yarnnelg on October 14, 2014, 04:20:49 PM
3-4-3 provides the section for starting the clock following an offensive penalty. The SEC announced an error following a false start with less than five minutes remaining in the game. On setting the ball the clock was started. Where in the book is the five minutes mentioned ?

It's not. That is a basic guideline that a lot of officials in general use and I believe it's also a conference mechanic used by the SEC.

The SEC specifically stated that it was an application under five minutes to play. That looks to be a Conference mechanic. Thanks

TX Mike, thanks as well.
