Title: Roughing the Kicker vs Running into Kicker Okl St-OU game
Post by: BoBo on December 06, 2014, 11:59:17 PM
Watching Oklahoma St-Oklahoma today.

I know its the announcers speaking but the talking heads were throwing out the philosophy

Running Into the Kicker- Is contact on the kicking leg

Roughing the Kicker- Is contact to the plant leg

What do you call if the kicker is airborne and there is contact to the kicker when is in the air regardless of where the contact is?

Any opinions?

If you saw the play what do you think they should have called?

Straight up as described above = Roughing.

Oklahoma punter was airborne had not reestablished himself on the ground and they went 5 yard running into the kicker. Puzzled me

Texas Mike can find the clip please.  Seems they showed a replay from behind the punter as well. Thanks

If it's minor contact on the kicking leg I'm still more than likely going with running into.
