Title: Dead Ball Penalty after 1st Down
Post by: cbcportugal on January 15, 2015, 07:20:48 AM
Here's the game situation: Team A completes a pass for 25 yards and a 1st down at their own 40 yard line. Team A receiver receives a dead ball taunting penalty.

So, Team A is penalized 15 yards giving them a 1st and 10 on their own 25 yard line, correct?

Where can I find an explanation in the NCAA regulations that a dead ball foul after a 1st down always maintains a 1st and 10 down and distance, rather than 1st and 25 in this case?

Thanks.

See rule 5-2-7, On page FR-62.

The A.R.'s spell it out in more detail, if the actual rule language is not enough for your purposes.
