Title: MLB made the call...you,as the replay official ,say....

Did MLB make a thoughtful decision by playing in a closed stadium yesterday in Baltimore?? Your opinions, please....

While I think it was a pretty interesting experience, I thought they should have moved both Tuesday's and Wednesday's games down to DC.  For that matter, rather than having the O's be the "home" team in Tampa, I think they should be in DC this series, too.  The Nats were on the road the past two days, and they're in NY this weekend, too.

As always, when it comes to pro sports, the answer is: MONEY.

Now, what's the question?

Play them later in the season as double headers... they lost a lot of money playing in an empty stadium

The problem with that, Bossman, is that this was the only trip for the White Sox to Baltimore, and they were trying to avoid a "fly in, play a doubleheader, and fly out" situation.

That said, as a Cubs fan, anything that makes the Sox's life more difficult is fine in my book, so I'm all in favor of scheduling a future doubleheader on an offday.  :)

Gotcha.  I figured they were playing again at some point down the road.

Two former Mainers, Gary Thorne and Mike Bordick, are the play-by-play and color guys for the Birds. I'll be interested to hear their take on the game. Sorta' like doing a golf match w/o the polite clapping, I'm sure.

Succumbing to threats and intimidation sets a really bad precedence.  There were a lot of unknown "Public Safety" concerns following 911, but the Yankee game was played and our President came and threw out the 1st ball.  Sometimes risk is worth taking (if you've got the resolve to back it up).

I believe reading that some of the umpiring "crew" during pre-game were Secret Service Agents in disguise for that game & we had to excuse President Bush's pitch, as you lose something off your fastball when wearing a bulletproof vest. I cheered for the Yankees for about a week after and wore a Yankee red, white & blue cap. I would still cheer for the Yankees if they were playing Iran ,North Korea or a team from another planet.

Rumor has it that part of this impending nuclear deal, will place Iran in the AL Eastern Division.

Further feeling is that Iran would probably place middle of the pack in the AL Least.  ;D

  To a hick from Maine, the following concerns would arise....

(1) Do Iranians wear turbans  ????
(2) If so, could they wear turbans in lieu of a baseball cap ??? ????
(3) If so, would said turban need to have a team logo ??? ??? ????
(4) Would an inside pitch that nicked a turban be considered a hit batsman ??? ??? ??? ????

While I could accept a team from Iran joining the AL East, I would have some deep concerns of a similar addition of an interplanetary team...

(1) If they could get to Earth, they could run/travel quite fast :o :-\ :!#;
(2) would an asterisk be added to any records they might set :o ::) :P :'(;
(3) would they consider Earthlings eatable :o :o :o eAt& ???

...OH, by the way, I just got a sneak peek at the 2015 Points of Emphasis..if you guys are interested???
