Title: 2015 CFO Officiating Video
Post by: dvasques on June 08, 2015, 04:15:04 PM
Play 17 of the Personal Foul segment we have a pass intercepted by B. After the play is over, A76 hits an opponent late.

R announces Late hit on the offense #76

Technically, 76 was a defensive player by the time he fouled. Would it be too confusing to call the foul on defense 76 and be technically correct or is it better to remain in the commentators language and call the foul on the offense?

In this case I call it the passing team.

May explain why we hear some folks actually give the name of the team like number 76 of Ohio State

Maybe since team A and B remain A and B throughout the down regardless of ball status and turn over, offense and defense remain the same too?

Play 6 of Illegal Block section...someone near and dear to the hearts of many here, Zebra99, announces an illegal low block on # XX of the "intercepting team" .  (Block was during int return)  Works for me
