Luling cancels football game with Navarro after assistant coach’s death
Posted on 9/2/2015 7:54:00 AM.
(Geronimo) – The Navarro High School football team’s Friday night schedule is in limbo this week. The Panthers were slated to host Luling at Erwin-Lee Field, but the Eagles cancelled the game after the death of defensive coordinator Ralph Lymas on Monday.

The funeral for Lymas, who had coached in Luling since 2012, is scheduled for Saturday. Luling has cancelled all athletic events for the rest of the week, which also includes a volleyball match against Navarro on Friday.

Navarro head coach Les Goad indicated Tuesday night that he was searching for a replacement team with an open date Friday in need of a game to fill the schedule, but that the chances of finding one were slim.

Is it unreasonable to think Navarro would just sit tight out of respect for the decedent instead of worrying about finding a game to play?

If it were a road game, I assume they would sit tight.  Losing a home date might be a bigger issue, though.

More worried about the loss of a gate? That figures.

Perhaps the better life lesson would be to load up the bus and take them to the services.

This is like the 3rd coach (2 active 1 retired) they have lost in the past 6 years or so.
