Title: Winding Clock After Ball Goes Out Of Bounds
Post by: CenTexZebra on September 25, 2015, 01:17:21 PM
How many chapters are having their Texas high school crew do this?   This is not correct for high school, is it?

For Sub-varsity, specifically 7th and 8th grade, I would like to see a rule modification to allow us to wind the clock after getting ball back to the middle of the field (whether incomplete pass or out of bounds).

There is no reason that a 7th grade b team game should take 2 hours.

9/10/JV.... meh.

Varsity, no.

I have personally seen three different chapters doing this on Friday night games.

Wrong, wrong, wrong . . . unless . . .  TAPPS mercy rule is in effect . . . or score of game is out of hand and coaches request you to run the clock.

If the TAPPS rule is in effect, the clock won't stop on the OOB in the first place. We will still work our standard mechanics and the clock operator will ignore stop the clock signals except for time outs.
