Team A trails by 4 points. A-88 scores (touchdown) as time expires in the 4th quarter. 8-3-2 states "If a touchdown is scored during a down in which time in the fourth period expires, the try shall not be attempted unless the point(s) would affect the outcome of the game."
You make the call.

Try. By rule, the try is an opportunity for either team to score. Team B could theoretically score two points to tie the game, so Team A must snap the ball.

Bingo! Just take a knee to minimize the risk. (And hope you don't fumble the snap). Unfortunately, the crew chose to leave the field declaring the game over.

Hopefully any British official will have got that correct as a version of that scenario has appeared in their annual exam more than once in recent years.

Well I suspect now they may but the reason it was put in a number of times was because too many answered incorrectly previously :-)

Actually had this happen in a game this year.
And yes, we made them do the try.
And yes, they took a knee.

We had this in the second league semifinal, and yes, team A with a one point lead attempted to kick the extra point (they made it)...
