I have a catch. Looks like the right foot went out of bounds. Start the clock on the snap in Fed, referee's signal in NCAA.

Catch, had possession then foot went OOB at 2, good spot and ruling.

Receiver had firm "control" of the football; demonstrated a football act (doing something common to the game)... control then turns into possession and when he hit the ground the play is over... no fumble, no incomplete pass. Catch & down.

Wasn't his foot OOB first at the 2 (after possession)?

The foot out at the 2 was one of my issues here. Seems the deep wing should look to the short wing first as the short wing could have helped with that to get the spot better.
As for the catch...if you see the receiver had possession while making those steps, then it was a catch. If you see (incorrectly) that he was still fighting with defender to get control of the ball, then he would not have had possession before stepping out of bounds.

watching it at full speed, I might have had a catch and fumble into the end zone, touchback Team B.
After watching the slow-mo, I have a catch and OOB at the 2 prior to the fumble.

At slo-mo, I found myself thinking that was a REALLY good call by the covering official. Clock on the ready.
Frame-by-frame, I see the foot drag and just clip the sideline, which would have put the ball back a yard or two and held the clock for the snap. But honestly, I don't expect him to see that - his focus is rightly on the ball and the goal line. I'm sure as hell not going to criticize for missing the foot, except that he's closer to the sideline than I would prefer here - backing away from the field a couple of yards might have helped him to catch that. If the H has anything to add, he should do so. But I still say that's a damn fine call by the S.

Agreed, he was right on it and even with slo-mo many of us missed the foot OOB, top call on the field.

I have a good spot here. While the foot was OOB at the 2, the receiver was leaning forward and deep wing spots at the 1. Can you talk through your thinking on how the short wing could have helped improved this spot?

Considering the play action, the field position and that the receiver would up beyond the goal line, the covering official's pointing to the spot, seems like a matter of "selling the call" that alerted EVERYONE that it was: 1. a catch, 2. Not a TD worthy of a minimal delay in stopping the clock, although an experienced clock operator would have understood those signals to equate to stopping the clock.
