Much like politicians..the committee will likely feel compelled to act on health and safety rules so they can say "they did something". Hopefully, unlike politicians, they will do things that actually DO have an impact, i.e. tweak the low blocking rule.
-
CUSA didn't have a medical observer, not in our IR booth at least. This could slow the game down a bit with more reviews, but probably a good move.
-
Already eliminated blind-side and peel-back blocks, how else do you see the rules committee tweaking the low-blocking rules?
-
I have heard Dr Redding speak on it and if they let him write it I suspect it will follow the NFHS rule and only close line blocking is where blocking below the waist would be allowed

Some more detail. The 2 types of severity of targeting is perfect for us without IR

"Additionally, the committee will consider allowing the instant-replay official to stop the game and enforce a targeting foul that was not detected by the on-field officials."
Oh please no. Replay has already slowed the game down enough, and this is only going to make the targeting problem even worse. Same with the sliding defenseless player rule. Let's at least remove the "first half of next game" rule and adopt the basketball model the AAC has proposed. This is the perfect opportunity to fix the targeting rule.

Here is a writeup on the proposals:
