We got an email from our association that these helmet covers are legal to use in games. Anyone else?

That question hasn't come up in FL, at least to my knowledge.
-
We've had the approval to use them in OH for a few years now, but outside of one 7 on 7 tournament 3 yrs ago, I've never seen them in use.
-
I've seen one school in the local area wearing them, so they must be okay'd in Missouri.

We have used them in practice for three years, and there does seem to be some evidence of reduced concussions. I can't say with empirical proof that the Guardians are the reason, but our overall program has lead to a reduction, and the Guardians are certainly a part of that.
We have never asked to (nor do we want to) wear them in a game. Given that 90% of our concussions were happening in practice, games aren't the biggest window of concern.

I retired from officiating during 2012 season. In Tennessee, we were told the caps were illegal (before the date of the letter) and then told they were legal. Not sure what has happened since, but the Denver article makes some good points.

These were never "Approved" / "Endorsed" / "Sanctioned" or "Permitted" by the NFHS
The NFHS Rules Committee simply determined they were NOT Illegal Equipment

That which is not illegal is legal.
