I think the rule is as clear and understandable as it has ever been in my 25 years.  Having said that -- I thought the block from the side was still allowable along the neutral zone by unrestricted players while the ball was still in the zone.  Block by RT against DT along the NZ and ball still looked in the zone.  Looked like incorrect call.  Am I missing something?

I would agree.  Rule is pretty clear and we've got a 1st level block right at the LOS by an unrestricted player with ball still in the box.  I'm guessing that the call was for a block "back to the original position of the ball"???  Except that portion of the rule does not apply to the circumstances here (unrestricted player + inside the zone + ball in the zone).

That is a pretty slow developing block.  Ball looks out of the zone to me when contact is made.

No foul on that play.  Ball may have barely been out of the zone.  I wouldn't split hairs on that one.
