I question a "stands" ruling.

Was there a flag on team A for a 9-2-1-b-1/4 foul?

No reference made to a flag I don't think - and I don/t have a rule book handy; so I don't know what rule 9-2-1-b-1/4 is. But it sure looked like DPI to me...

Substitutes (I think I counted at least 15 team A uniformed squad members) entering the field for other purposes than filling a player vacancy.

There was no time left on the clock, at which point those rules don't apply anymore. Maybe you could argue that the play still had to be reviewed, the referee hadn't held the ball up to signify the end of the period/game, and so the game wasn't over... but that's beyond nitpicking.

Ok, thanks...but, I have to agree with "wingman" that in a game-winning situation, keeping the rag in your pocket is wise - replay to follow or not!

BUT WHAT ABOUT DPI? Academic if it was a catch; but what if it had been ruled no catch with no flag?
-
Agreed. No doubt DPI. Maybe deep officials were so focused on catch or no catch they forgot to throw it? Either way, ESPY award level catch right there.
-
Not sure you want to call DPI there. Yes, you had a bit of contact, but do you really want to decide that game on a ticky tack foul. Remember, were looking for train wrecks, not fender benders!

Defender had the receiver virtually wrapped up from the time he crossed the goal line, back to the QB, and never made a real attempt to look back to see if a pass was coming - that would be a ticky tack foul?
-
Just watched it again, in slow motion. Defender has his left hand on the back, never "wrapped up" the TE. By the book, probably a DPI, but not somewhere I would throw a flag, especially at that level and in that game.

What category would you put the DPI in?

What category would you put the DPI in?
B40 is not allowed to block A83 as soon as A83 reaches the same yard line as B40, which is obviously the case. So that in itself is illegal contact.
This illegal contact continues clearly after the forward pass (which crosses the NZ) was thrown. The contact obviously impedes A83 in completing his route and as such catching the ball.
How is this ticky tacky?
-
Not enough before the pass to be holding and nothing during the pass to draw a DPI flag. Although he does not attempt to play the ball he really doesn't contact the receiver at that point and the ball is basically thrown into his back.
-
I don't see an action to put in a DPI category.
I see a grab, but no restriction.
I see no hook and turn.
The receiver has use of his hands to make a catch.
I was told that contact is not a foul, visual material restriction is.
-
The defender has the receiver's right arm pinned down prior to the arrival of the ball. The receiver does NOT have full range with his right arm. If this pass was a foot or two higher the receiver would not have been able to raise his hands to catch the ball. Had he not caught it there would, correctly, be a hue and cry for DPI. Additionally the defender is restricting the receiver's ability to make any move back toward the ball. And please let's not hear let the players decide the game. When we keep our flag in the pocket that is the same result as throwing the flag when it is "tacky tack". IMHO this is clearly DPI.

Clearly DPI, contact without playing the ball, if you get into a players body and prevent him from making a play on the ball (coming back to the ball) as done here its DPI
