The NFHS tries hard to limit exceptions, and there are a few penalty enforcements that are sure to draw the coach's >:( :o ::) :'( ire. Here are my top three. See if you can answer them and supply any that you may have....
(1) 3rd & 4 @ B's 30 when :
(a) B1 encroaches;
(b) A5 then levels B2.
(2) 4th & 10 @ 50 when :
(a) K punts;
(b) B1 returns from B's 10;
(c) B2 BIB @ B's 30;
(d) K2 tackles B1 @ B's 40 by PFFM.
(3) 1st & 10 from B's 25 with 0:05 left in game when :
A races up to LOS and snaps ball prior to RFP - Umpire sNiCkErS was watching prom queen's divorced mom eat popcorn.
tiphat:
-
1. Enforce 5 yd encroachment, ball now on 25, 1st and 10. Then enforce PF vs A, 15 yds, 1st and ten at B 40.
2. B can keep the ball by declining PFFM. Then BIB enforced from B 30, 10 yds, 1st and ten at B20
3. Delay of game, 5 yd walk-off. R can invoke 3-4-6 if he believed it the foul was for stopping the clock only. Can start the clock on ready or start the clock and not let the snap happen.

1st and 15 from B30

buzz - good try - think of DB fouls that occur PRIOR to RFP.

Because the Chains had not been "officially" set with the RFP it would end up being 1st and 10 from the B30.

Chains not officially set until the RFP.
So would still be 1st and Ten.
Got it.
