Title: definition of "try"

Can't find an official definition ( and I've looked quite a bit ), but the the term "the try" is used throughout the rules book. Reading the rules where the term is used I think it must be limited to extra point "tries" or field goal "tries". It also seems that the time starts, after a try, on the snap and ends on the ensuing kick-off, barring penalties or a time-out.

I'm not sure but I would gather than only dead ball fouls could be called in the try interval.

.....and for those that saw my post about the timeline to becoming a Div 1 ref, and gave me advice, thank you  tiphat: but this question ought to confirm that I'm not on track to becoming anything but a 75 year old armchair official   ^TD

Could you clarify this.  Do you mean live ball fouls during the try and which ones would carry over to the kickoff?
