Team A in hurry up offense with no time outs...QB in shotgun formation, get the snap, immediately spikes the ball to preserve time. Good, or no good?

Nothing requires there be a hand-to-hand snap for the passer to legally throw the ball to the ground immediately after controlling the ball on the snap. It just can't touch the ground between the snap and the throw, or be controlled by anybody else before he throws it. AR 7-3-2-VI

We had a coach Saturday night do his best to argue that this is IG. Despite us pointing out this exact AR, he still didn't agree.

What? A coach that doesn't know the rules? The heck you say....

Apparently that’s the federation rule.

It is a federation rule. Must be hand to hand and thrown Immediately to the ground
