NCAA rules apply. Late in the 4th quarter. Team A is up 9-0. Team A is on their own 5 yard line. After the snap of the ball, while the play is live, Team A is called for clipping in the end zone. Team B intercepts the ball and scores a touchdown. What are the options for Team B and which one is the best?
A. Decline the penalty, take the touchdown and Team B kicks off from their own 35.
B. Take the penalty, accept a safety and Team A has a free kick from the 20.
C. Some other option.

C. 10-2-5 says personal fouls by the non scoring team on a down that ends in a TD are enforced on the try or succeeding kickoff (or succeeding spot in OT starting this year). While getting two points and the receiving the free kick may be kore advantageous to B, it is not an option. The touchdown counts and the CLP will probably be enforced on the kickoff.

Welcome, PurpleMoose, to our forum - I thought moose were only in Maine :) . I hope you'll find it both enjoyable and informative. FYI, NFHS would allow you cancel the TD, take the safety and receive the free kick when down by 7 - a ensuing TD + PAT = tie or win. In NFHS, this would not be a bridge foul and couldn't be carried over as it occurred prior to COP.
