Lots of scrimmages tonight! Everybody go out and have fun! Travel safely.
-
Had one on Thurs night (6 man) that went almost THREE AND A HALF HOURS. Not counting travel (close to an hour)
Sorry Coach but if you'r gonna eat up that much of my time, you really oughta make your scrimmages a paid gig, IMO.

Ohhhh! Don’t get me started on that.

There certainly may be some opposition to my following statement but that's okay. It's okay to leave, especially at the three hour mark. The purpose of the scrimmages are for everyone's benefit. Coaches, players and officials. For officials, it's to our benefit to knock of a little rust and work on mechanics to bet better. But we are not paid to be there and that includes not being there as a team staff member at the mercy of the coaches. When you've had enough, you've had enough and they have to deal with that. Now this does not mean go out there and get one series in and say goodbye. But it also doesn't mean you're out there for an excessive amount of time.

We don't get paid individually, but the schools pay the chapters. So, give them their three hours. If things are going well, give 'em a little extra. If not, then punch the clock at three hours.
If you leave early, you shouldn't expect the schools to pay the bill.

I don't have an issue with essentially 'donating' my time in return for getting onthe field and knocking off rust, etc, but if you plan on your scrimmage being that long (it was, they ran like 6 series each side or something then a live 10 min quarter) then let us know up front, beforehand. I didn't have enough (bottled) water and while I'm in OK shape, I was not prepared to be running around for such a length of time (I've had bariatric surgery, so eating, for me, in small amounts, doesn't go very far in keeping energy levels up for such an extended period.) I was expecting 1.5-2 hours and didn't have a protein bar with me, beyond what I already knew I would eat immediately prior. Lesson learned on that.)

After three hours the school pays an additional $75 hour as well. Which I think is fair.

$150 for 3 hours..... Another $100 for each hour after. New this year.

Schools pay for 3 hours so you should always expect to be there at least that long. Lesson learned.

Good to see the scrimmage fee increases. And just to clarify, that fee goes to the Chapter not the officials.
