I got a cute little Texas Way pin in the mail yesterday.

I got that yesterday as well.  Doesn't really seem appropriate for the hat.  If it was magnetic I would consider my shirt to the game.  Maybe drill a hole and make it a keychain???

It goes on the collar of the uniform shirt if you are so inclined to wear it.

I was thinking more along the lines of which junk drawer into which I should deposit it.
If anybody sees a coach wearing this pin, please get a photo and share it.

Am I correct? They can't coach in the playoffs unless they have passed the 'course'?  ::)

Houston ISD coaches were wearing Texas Way shirts to games at the start of the season.  And their players did seem to be behaving better than in the past.  But as the season wore on the shirts started to disappear and the UNS flags seemed to increase.  Causation =/= correlation, I know.

It is recommended but not required.

But they get to see a list of officials that are certified.

And a number of districts have stated that they will only use Texas Way certified officials for playoff assignments. Despite what they claim, this issue ain't a "two-way street."

What districts have said that?  I asked our assigner and not a single coach has asked for Texas Way officials.

I thought it only helped if coaches can't agree and it's a uil assignment.  Anyone know if that has happened yet?

We had a UIL assignment and they didn't ask... no idea if they checked the list or not, or even what that would mean, considering it doesn't show what percentage of a chapter has completed it.

Our home town district, for one. One up north. They made that statement weeks ago. Maybe they ain’t following through. What a waste of time and somebody’s money.

We have one from your home town district, but they're the visitor, so maybe they didn't have a say?  We didn't have one of yours week one.

Honestly I highly doubt any coaches are picking officials based on who is certified in this thing.  If the best crew isnt certified I'd still pick them over a lower crew that is.

That'd be a waste of OUR money, in the form of TASO dues. UIL certainly isn't paying for it.
