CORRECTED
Just something to remember.
2/10, A-25, 1:15 (2), A=7, B=10. A88 catches a legal forward pass at the A-40, and advances to the A-45 where he fumbles and the loose ball is muffed by several players and eventually travels out of bounds at the A-40. During the pass play, B99 roughed passer A12 at the A-20.
Ruling:
A) A, 1/10, A-40, snap (25).
b) A, 1/10, B-40, snap (25).
c) A, 1/10, B-45, snap (25).
------------------------
Some folks might be tempted to enforce this penalty at the dead-ball spot (A-40). However, the RPS penalty statement says "...end of the last run..." The end of the last run was the A-45, so 15 yards, and a first down from the A-45 yields answer b). (Hope the covering officials got a bean bag down on the right spot.)
Just something to think about on this fine Thursday morning. 8]

minor point of order on wording.
Original LOS was the A-25, catches the ball at the 50... then advances to the A-45... this scenario would be a little less confusing, if it was caught at the 40 (or anywhere behind the 45), or if you used a different word than advanced, when technically he retreated. And I realize that in the strictest sense, all motion that is still beyond the LOS could be considered advancing the ball, even if it's moving back towards the LOS, but I actually had to get a dry erase clipboard out to diagram this out to get an understanding of what happened where, as written.

minor point of order on wording.
Not a minor point at all. Actually, a major FO PAW (however it is spelled🙂).
Yeah, should have had him catching the ball at the A-40, advance to the A-45, with fumble OB at the A-40.
I’ll fix it soon.
Thanks.
