A is going for a two point try. After the snap, A11 hands off the ball to A21, who is hit at the 4 yard line and fumbles. The ball is at rest when B96 muffs the ball in an attempt to possess the ball. The muff causes the ball to get into the endzone, where B36 bats the ball through the back of the endzone. The covering official rules the muff going into the endzone was the result of a new force.
What are the two options A has concerning this play?
-
Decline illegal batting for the rare 1 point safety.
Accept to retry from the 1.5.

What about enforcing the penalty from the subsequent kickoff?

Under what rule would you use for enforcement from the subsequent kickoff? A has not scored a touchdown on this play, so any possible bridge to a spot outside of the previous spot just isn't there.
-
8-3-5. This is a successful try (table 8-1).
A has two options:
Accept the penalty and retry from the 1.5
Or
Accept the penalty and the 1pt safety and enforce the 10 yard penalty on the succeeding spot (kickoff or first play in overtime)

I should have said succeeding spot
Rule 8-4 2025 NFHS Football Rules Page 70
ART. 3•.. During a try, A may score two points from what would be a
touchdown or one point for a field goal or safety by B under rules governing play
at other times during the game. Only A may score during a try.
ART. 5... If during a successful try, a foul by B occurs, A is given the choice of:
a. Accepting the penalty and replaying the down following enforcement; or
b. Accepting the result of the play and enforcement of the penalty from the
succeeding spot.

I don't think that a safety would not fall under the definition of a successful try, though it isn't specifically stated. They didn't not accomplish the 2 point try they were attempting, nor did they attempt a "field goal" so nothing was successful.
-
They successfully added 1 point to the scoreboard.
-
Look at Table 8-1. 1 point safety is listed as a successful try.
