Missed BBW

First clip IMO would have been a valid late hit OB call but it would be a tough angle for an on-field official to pick up given the crowd of players on the sideline.
The 2nd clip (BBW?) I'd have initial contact above the waist and therefore legal. IMO the block violates the spirit of the rule in that the significant resulting contact is low and back toward the original position of the ball, but the rule seems to require us to pass on this one since initial contact is above the waist.
-
My two cents: the BBW start high and then go low: legal
-
1st one was close. In slow motion replay, yes, it was OOB, but in real time, that's a close call.
I don't see how you guys see the second one as contact above the waist. While not a "classic" low block at the knees, the first contact is at the thigh.
-
Initial contact was shoulder-to-shoulder then blocker rolled low. Again, IMO it violates the spirit of the rule, but based on first contact it's not a foul.

Perhaps with sone UIL re-education we can salvage this B.

Only with complete immersion therapy.......................... ;D

My initial view on the BBW was that the contact was at the waist level and he slides down the kid's arm and then hits the upper thigh. Not enough there to warrant a flag for me.
-
Hard to judge the first play - but if you're asking for a flag here, it may get a little tight. Bang-bang on the sideline... I'm of the opinion I would probably have let this pass, but maybe have a chat with the player in question, who may not have known his whereabouts on the field.
Second? Totally legal. No need for a flag. Good pass, here.

I don't have a foul in the second video either.
Question on mechanics, would the B be the one to pick that up or could somebody else help?

I think the alleged BBW is in the U's wheelhouse. Not saying the B can't take a look, especially if there is no blocking in advance of the ball carrier.

If those are your ugliest plays of the night...you had a great night!
-
In my opinion, no foul on either play.

#1 Flag - #12 white already OOB and #42 red drops the head and charges in
#2 No Flag - the action by 30 white at the hit sends the blocker low and to the ground.
