There was a punt and it hit a punting team player while in the air. Flag for illegal touching but no mark off yardage for the foul. Why not. Why have a penalty where there is no penalty of yards off?
-
Are you sure it wasn't first touching?

Should not have been a flag for that. It is a violation, not a foul. A bean bag should be used to mark that spot as receivers might be able to take the ball there depending on what happpens during rest of down

I'm pretty sure the ref said illegal touching. Vandy punting. While in the air the ball hit vandy player in the back. I saw the side judge drop his flag

It is called illegal touching in NCAA but it is a violation, not a foul. If a flag was thrown, it was a mistake. But sounds like they enforced it correctly

Maybe the covering official initially judged KCI but then they decided just to go with illegal touching.

...could have been NFHS variety KCI - no yardage there.
