c. Once the game begins, players shall not practice with a ball on the field
of play or the end zones except during the half-time intermission.
Can anyone tell me what the foul and penalty is for this infraction?
During a timeout a coach was having his QB take snaps from the snapper on the field.
(There had been several botched snaps immediately preceding this timeout.)

Nothing. Don't let them have the game ball. If they want to get another ball and practice close to their sideline huddle then I don't see any problem with it. I certainly wouldn't go picking boogers with it. I would just move them out of the middle of the field and close to their team area (at least on the other side of the numbers)

I assume you mean the "current" ball spotted for play. Odds on, all of the balls near the sideline are "game balls" being rotated in and out. I would think he would be free to use any of those "game balls".

Yes, that is what I meant.

Assuming that we have ball boys and the teams are not keeping the game balls, I would not let the players practice with any of the game balls. If they bring their own ball, then I'm fine with this as long as the action happens close to their own sideline.
